Houston's Theater District draws in over 2 million visitors a year. Visitors experience opera, ballet, music and theater in the Theater District. There are several venue's in the 17 block area including the Wortham Theater Center, Alley Theatre, Jones Hall, Aerial Theater, and the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
The 130,000 square foot Bayou Place is an entertainment complext that offers visitors a concentrated place for almost all their cultural wants and desires. Inside Bayou Place there are restaurants, theaters and parks. Houston hosts eight world class theater organizations and is one of only 5 cities in the country that have permanent organizations for ALL the performing arts disciplines.
There are 12,948 theater seats and 1,480 movie seats within the Theater District marking it as the second largest concentrated number of theater seats in a downtown metropolitan area behind only the prestigious Broadway in New York City.
