When Minute Maid Park opened (as Astros Field, then became Enron Field), it set a new standard for baseball parks. For the first time since 1964, a professional Houston sports franchise played on natural grass, but that is not all. Minute Maid Park harkens back to an earlier time. The Toyota Center in downtown Houston is Houston's newest event venue. It is home to the Houston Rockets, Houston Comets and Houston Aeros. It was built with the fan base in mind and has state-of-the-art sound systems that is "leagues" ahead of Reliant Stadium (which is also a brand new stadium in the Houston area). It is built down into the ground, with 60 percent of its seating at or below street level. For basketball games, 18,500 fans can gather and cheer on the Rockets or the Comets and 17,800 fans can cheer on the Aeros. For concerts even more people (approximately 19,000) can enjoy whoever is playing the venue.
